IMG_0313.JPGLast week I spent the night at The Roxy Hotel in Tribeca, a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City.

Formerly known as The Tribeca Grand, the property recently went through renovations and rebranding to reopen in September 2015 as a completely new experience.

Walking into the lobby, the space feels a bit more like a movie theater than your standard hotel lobby, with brick walls and beautiful decor setting the mood.

After checking in, just a few steps past the front desk, guests are quickly received by The Roxy Lounge, a beautiful, wide restaurant space complete with comfortable furniture and copper ceilings that all of the rooms of the hotel surround and look down to.

It was in this space that I got to sit down for a few minutes with Tony Fant, president and chief operations officer of the SoHo Grand Hotel and The Roxy Hotel. Over the course of our conversation, he took me through the process of rebranding the property with the goal of creating a space that brought the tradition of live entertainment and energy that had existed within the Tribeca Grand into a new era.

Below is a document of my stay at The Roxy Hotel, a can't-miss night of entertainment in New York City for business travelers, families, and New Yorkers alike.

The location

The Roxy Hotel is located in Tribeca, just below Canal Street and a block away from Broadway. It's a prime spot that gives guests easy access to all that Lower Manhattan has to offer. It should be an easy pick for anyone traveling for business who has to take meetings on Wall Street, but still wants to enjoy some of the best nightlife in the city.

With the A/C/E, N/Q/R, 1/2, and 4/5/6 subway lines all within blocks, anyone looking to explore the city will have no problem getting around.

My room

My room was a Deluxe King with wide windows and an absolutely stellar bed. The first thing you notice is the decor and mood of the room, which felt simultaneously retro and chic.

In terms of size, it's perfect for anyone on a business trip or couples looking for a romantic getaway. Families of four or more will want to spend a little more for a Deluxe Double.

The colors of the room read as warm, and I immediately felt at ease after what had been a rather hectic day. Every light had a dimmer, which was much appreciated to my tired eyes.

My bathroom

The bathroom was exactly what it needed to be, with the added bonus of walls that were reminiscent of "The Shining" in the coolest possible way. As I have said before, I have just a few requirements of hotel showers in order to be satisfied: They must be intuitive to turn on and easily adjustable. I found hot water on the first try and was very pleased.
